using so sewing tools we were able to remove the tessa tape loom wrapping and expose the full loom. you can gain more power out by adding the 3/4th channel speakers to the amp - this was my original intention . . . . .

Headache #2 the ford head unit can stay on and work with the ignition off so even if you tap the ignition live from the footwell fuse box, it's still not ideal. there was no way to cram the new breakout loom in any of the spaces behind the radio, we tried de-looming it and all sorts - it just wouldn't fit . . . I’ve seen a lot of threads in a lot of different forums talking about what upgrade can you do and what coding and wiring do they need to do so. I’ve researched the hell out of this so here’s my two cents for you all. Enhanced by an integrated mixer, the POWERBOX65.4MDSP intelligently combines input signals and seamlessly distributes them to your desired channels. Now over to the van, with the radio surround and radio removed we needed somewhere to put the amp. . . . Small footprint, big impression! you can see that most of the wires run direct appart from the 4x speaker wires. . . . They effectivly are cut from the Head-unit and run to the 4chl amp. then the amps 4chnl outputs are connected to the vans speakers . . . . power and ground is feed from the loom and switchon is auto . . . The range of Powerbox Mini class D multi-channel amplifiers feature a MOSFET output stage usually reserved for large platform amplifiers. The class D topology is much more efficient that the traditional class AB used in this style amplifier because the amp can be smaller and stay much cooler during operation. This delivers not only higher power output but also fantastic sound quality and the ability to bridge channels to drive a subwoofer. Making these a perfect one amplifier solution. The high efficiency design means less current draw and less strain on the factory charging system. Deltabox™ Connectivity Fixing the eq - Normally you set the gain on an aftermarket amp with the head unit volume 3/4 up or at 75%. Now on our ford unit, we know at that volume the volume-based EQ is screwing things up. We want to avoid turning the volume past halfway. So it works better if you set the gain on the amp with the head unit volume lower at around half or just less (about 12 on the display). This will stop the bass EQ cut but keep the bass lift at a low volume. A word of caution though, the mk3.5 pipes the symposer engine sound through the audio system. On my first attempt, I set the amp up with the head unit volume low at around 5. It sounded great on the driveway but when I drove the car all of a sudden I had a thundering V8 engine drowning out all the music when I opened up the throttle lol! So yeah the sweet spot seems to be about 10 to 12 on the head unit volume dial, then set the amp gain to loud at that volume. On my vibe amp that's slightly over half gain on the front channel and slightly below half gain on the rear as I like a slight front fade. Headache #1 the focus doesn't have a switched live/ignition feed behind the radio! The above has been in for 9 months or so now, we have had no issues with the radio or amp, we have had no issues with rattles or anything from the rear plastic we removed . . .

It powers the 4 door speakers and the two sub ls with no extra wiring. I just bought a Vibe Powerbox 65.4M with BMW T harness. It took about 25 minutes to fit. I had to remove the head unit so that meant removing some trim which was really only 6 torx head T15 (vids on YouTube of course). It came with clear and concise instructions so your technical level doesn’t need to be that high to hook it up. I placed the amp under the glove box between the underside of the glove box and the removable panel. It fit like a dream and no visible wires with enough room for it to breath.I've done installs on loads of cars over the years but the game has moved on a fair bit and I have to say my latest audio upgrade project on my new mk3.5 focus ST has bit me in the ass big time. So I wanted to post this to forewarn other peeps who are blissfully unaware of the potential nightmare that is altering fords audio system.
