A low-key start to their career was boosted by two things – the endorsement of two of Britain's biggest pop stars – Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher, and the exposure given to the first single, The Riverboat Song, by Chris Evans on his hit TV show 'TFI Friday'. The EP received a 5 stars rating from Flick of the Finger, with the publication stating that 'Lushly textured, these four compelling and diverse new offerings are nothing short of brilliant.

When the Birmingham quartet recorded Moseley Shoals in their tiny home studio, there wasn't a label that wanted them. I remember", said OCS singer Simon Fowler in a 1996 interview, "when we were dropped, our old label boss said there were no potential singles on the demo tape we'd just given him. The band also released a live album in December 2006, which was recorded at Birmingham Academy and spread over two discs. In the edit page, go to the 'Metadata' tab and add your Juno artist, label or release page for listeners to purchase your release / releases. It's another that could have come from the "White Album" as band mixes bucolic folk with a bit of blues before getting lost in a spell of extended what-does-that-knob-do twiddling but all the while remembering that they're a guitar-led rock band, it's at least as good a way to close the difficult second album as "Champagne Supernova" and that's saying something [and if anything here is close to mentor Paul Weller's solo sound then it's probably this track]. Recently on a lads'n'dads camping trip and safe to say all the dads welcomed this album being played and even some of the lads showed an interest, plenty of (bad) singing around the fire. However "It's My Shadow" that follows is perhaps, for me at least, the lowest point of the album, it's not that there's anything actually wrong with this nice reflective slice of Britpop but in the company of the other great songs here nice and reflective is all it is. Releases in 2001 (Mechanical Wonder), 2003 (North Atlantic Drift), 2005 (A Hyperactive Workout for the Flying Squad) and 2007 (On the Leyline) continued the trend of releasing new material every two years. They even played on the "Moseley Shoals 15th Anniversary Tour", which they didn't originally record on.The Downstream" is a fabulous slow bluesy ballad, another that's in late sixties Stones territory with Simon Fowler again channelling his Jagger, leaving the singles aside this is probably my favourite track, although the knob-twiddling with which it ends is an unnecessary indulgence. Despite the emotionally draining lyrics of next up "One for the Road" at its core it's a fun infectious dance number. Records that aren't in picture sleeves will either be in a company sleeve or a generic plain sleeve. Ocean Colour Scene has had an impressive musical journey with connections to renowned musicians like Paul Weller and The Who.

December saw the limited edition release of a double CD/DVD release of the band's Moseley Shoals gig at O2 Academy Birmingham, which was filmed on 26 February 2011.

With their unique sound and dedication to their craft, they continue to captivate audiences worldwide.

But whether it's wisdom or self-belief thee rest of "Moseley Shoals" isn't to be found wanting because while eight of the remaining nine tracks may not be as familiar they do pass the fab-or-filler test even if [spoiler alert] they don't all perhaps adhere to a strict Britpop template. In March 2011, the band released a 15th anniversary special edition of their 1996 hit album Moseley Shoals.
