Description

The author has successfully churned a wonderful story out of something simple and humble like a barn. Through snow clad mountains and many storms, he fights the cold and hunger and comes across wolves and the yeti.

His sister Olly is left to continue with their observations on a family of swallows who would be leaving soon, also to go to Africa. A boy, fleeing for his life when the Japanese invade China, forms a relationship with the mythical Tibetan Yetis and miraculously survives winter in the Himalayas.Soon after, Ashley is captured by Yetis and taken to their kingdom high above the clouds where the Yeti community revere him as their king. First edition first impression in fine condition,no internal markings, pages clean, binding firm, jacket in removable protective sleeve, please see pics, paypal accepted, any questions please get in touch.

To touch the lives of children, to witness their listening and reading silence, is reward enough in itself. Ashley, left alone, befriends a tribe of yetis, and for the rest of his life, longs for their peaceful, gentle world. In 1987 they become an endangered species with their own culture, pseudo-language and religion, deserving their place in the world. When Japan invades China, Ashley Anderson is sent away with his Uncle Sung to walk through the mighty Himalayas to Tibet and then to India from where they would sail to England to where his grandmother lives.

I did enjoy the text once I got past chapter 4 as I found the first few chapters difficult to engage with. the two share a bond and an experience and such comradeship that is more precious to them than anything else. The rest of the story describes how Ashley is reunited with Uncle Sung and travels to England where he meets and, along with Uncle Sung, comes to live with his relatives and also succeeds in piecing together the reasons for his status among the Yetis. Michael Morpurgo is one of the most successful children's authors in the country, loved by children, teachers and parents alike.

This book is about Ashley’s journey across China to find a safe home, it‘s a fantasy but one written so well it feels like it’s real. King of the Cloud Forests" es una novela juvenil de Michael Morpurgo de 1987, y con dolor, porque me encanta este autor, he de reconocer que no me ha gustado. Whichever you are, this is an amazing story and Morpurgo deserves the title, 'The Master Storyteller'.

Here the Chelsea Pensioner looks back on his life, football, playing football for Chelsea F C, his wartime experiences in the army and more football. He spends the whole day making his perfect snowman; he has coal eyes, an old green hat and scarf and a tangerine nose.

Michael Morpurgo is a brilliant author because even though it is long it all seems to fit in with storyline. Sheltering in a tunnel, the stranger in the carriage with Barney and his mother tells them a story of a young soldier in the trenches of World War I who, on the spur of the moment, did what he thought was the right thing. It’s a gem of a book and one that like Escape from Shangri-La will appeal equally to someone of 10 or 110. First edition first impression ex library copy in vg condition, all markings are in the pics, pages are clean spine is tight, please see pics, jacket in removable protective sleeve, paypal accepted, any questions please get in touch. Seller has stated it will dispatch the item within 1 working day upon receipt of cleared payment - opens in a new window or tab .

Morpurgo's writing is clean and cohesive, padded with edifying descriptions and details that give the world and Ashley's thoughts depth without impeding the pace or easy digestion of the story. The consistency of the narrative voice gives legitimacy to the mythological presence and helps to lessen the jolt from reality to fantasy. A charming retelling of the classic story of The Wizard of Oz, told through the eyes of Toto the dog. It was a grey day with drizzle in the air, the great sad cranes bowing to the ship from the docks as we steamed pas. High in the mountains, in a tiny village, an abandoned bear cub is adopted by a lonely orphan child.
