Description

Put the wall thermostat furthest from the radiator where it never seemed to get sufficiently warm and it averages the two meaning that overall room reaches the set temperature. It’s compatible with Google Home and Alexa (“Alexa, turn the heat to 21 in the living room”) and can be affixed to 90 per cent of radiators (or you can use its adaptors, which come with the kit), but you do need the Wiser heating system to make it work through the internet. Also, a wall stat is more convenient to do a quick temp change in a main area without having to get your phone out. but rather than the other 3 rooms being OFF completely and left to just drop in temp entirely, but rather set their thermstats to 18/19 just so that a trickle of heat keeps them ticking over?

You probably want to be able to control the kids room independent of others and that's good for a smart TRV.As a general observation, in the old days with dumb thermostats, you would often have heating on times and off times. I replaced all radiators in the house before adding wiser smart TRV's to ALL of them with the exception of the "wild" rad in a bathroom. It feels good quality, and since a firmware upgrade mid way through last year, they’ve been even quieter than they were previously - not that that ever bothered me. My set up has TRVs on every rad in the house, other than the dining room/kitchen which has standard valves.

Our radiator thermostat works seamlessly with most existing thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) in your home. Features include open-window detection, so it will shut off If the temperature drops suddenly and it’s compatible with any boiler. It just seems a bit of a faff having to keep adjusting (via the Wiser app) each room radiator smart TRV. But from the first evening the Wiser system was running, with smart thermostats on each radiator, the heating sort of came alive and I was able to walk around the house with the app, setting the temperature and schedules in each room - this room is a bit too warm, this one could do with being a bit warmer, that kind of thing. However, Tado’s Energy IQ feature in the app does allow you to get fuel-cost predictions each month, compare the cost with previous months, as well as previous years (which might make grim reading), and you can see how you use energy, which could help you to cut back.Even if you have the oldest sort of radiator valves, the ones you turn manually that have little numbers on them that go from ‘Off’ up to ‘Max’, you can turn up and down the heat without having to crouch down and fiddle about. Most homes already have an oversized boiler and turning off some rooms means the demand gets even smaller, which can lead to the boiler cycling. so if by setting a TRV to 20 degrees and a thermostat in a non-TRV area to 14 degrees that area may get to over 14 degrees before the TRV gets to 20I'm not sure how I "tell" the hub that the thermostat exists. It was hoped it would become industry standard with all the boiler manufacturers subscribing, but sadly they haven’t, and in a bid to tie us into their system with extended warranties and the like if you adopt their controls they’ve developed their own versions of it e.

With the heating off you can’t change the temperature on the hub, but once you’ve switched the heating on, you have room by room control on the hub, as you do if you turn the heating on by voice control . For example, some rooms like the bedrooms, might be set to 18degC and programmed to come on in the morning, but go off in the day.The only way I get the heating on is to set the radiator TRV's temp above the indicated room temp that the TRV "sees". Eco, by the way, is where the Wiser system switches off your heating early depending on the weather, and after it has learnt about how well your home retains heat. We work from home so mostly we will keep 1 zone to temp all day, while bedrooms only trigger before night time.
